Intertwining Gallery and Community

Want to learn how you can run your car on used Crisco? Have you ever wanted to meet artists after seeing their work but couldn't figure out how? A new generation of young artists feel the same way about meeting their audience. The latest trend among many younger artists is to break out of the art world confines and engage directly with people, especially non-art audiences. Claudia Tennyson for example invites you to bring in objects from your home that are broken or worn out. She will, for free, "repair" your broken items and return them to you after they go on exhibition. The only catch is that you might not recognize the originals as there is no guarantee about what she'll give back to you. March 31st to April 8th. Kate Pocrass designs a campus walking tour in which selected sites will be analyzed by specially designed color charts. April 11th to April 22nd. Amy Franceschini makes a collaborative project with campus legend, butterfly scientist Art Shapiro. April 25th to May 6th wowhaus (Scott Constable and Ene Osteraas-Constable) investigates grass roots use of biodiesel fuel, May 9th to 22nd
