Masters of Fine Arts 2006

2006 MFA Exhibition

Opening receptions: Friday, June 2nd 5 to 7 pm at the Memorial Union (2nd floor) and 6 to 8 PM at the Nelson Gallery (Art Dept Room 124)

We can never truly know what the art of the future will bring us, but we can get a glimpse of six possible directions offered by highly talented young artists at the UC Davis Masters of Fine Arts Exhibition 2006. This sneak peek into the next generation of art makers takes place at two campus locations: the Memorial Union Art Gallery and the Richard L. Nelson Gallery from Friday June 2nd through Friday June 23rd, 2006. Receptions will be held at both galleries the evening of Friday the 2nd from 6 to 8pm.

At the Memorial Union Art Gallery Eiko Sugi presents paper silhouetted figures in mysterious settings with exquisite precision, both as objects and as wall installations. Amy Seidule presents enormous, energetic drawings in graphite and other mixed media.

On view at the Richard L. Nelson Gallery are an arcade-style video game that parodies competitiveness by Steve Lambert; a video installation about marriage and relationships by Natalie Rishe; a painting-as-personal-archeology installation by Ilya Noe; and a paper wall installation by Amanda Schoppel.

For further information please contact Heather Mikolaj at the Memorial Union Art Gallery, 530-752-0992 or Renny Pritikin at the Richard L. Nelson Gallery, 530-754-6590.
