EXHIBITION OPENING IS FRIDAY NIGHT, JUNE 4TH FROM 5:30 TO 7:30 PM THE EXHIBITION CONTINUES THROUGH JUNE 25TH
In their latest collaborative project the Nelson and the Pence together answer the question, “What goes on in those graduate fine art studios on campus?” Nine artists who are completing their two years of study toward a Masters of Fine Arts degree will exhibit their latest work, six at the Nelson and three at the Pence.
“We are thrilled to partner once again with the Art Department on a major project. Having shown these students’ work after their first year, it is particularly interesting to see how they have developed over their time at UC Davis,” says Natalie Nelson, Director of the Pence. On view at the Pence will be the drawings of Joshua Pelletier, the photography of Christopher Woodcock, and a large cardboard cityscape installation by Hyung-Mo Chu. At the Nelson Gallery, room 124 of the Art Building, will be video by Robert Machoian, ceramics by Linda Miller, photography by Aleksander Bohnak and Jingjing Gong, installation by Johanna Barron, and silkscreen prints by Traci Horgen.
The MFA program is an acclaimed program at UC, whose alumni include many highly regarded artists, such as Bruce Nauman, Deborah Butterfield, Richard Shaw, Nancy Rubins, Kathy Butterly, Michael Tompkins, Jock Reynolds and dozens of others.
